Oh, the game of business.  It can be hard to know the rules, the exceptions to the rules, and sometimes even who is playing.

How many times have you walked into a situation, maybe even with minimal information, and decided what needed to change?

Better yet, how many times have you been at a job for a year, two years, five years, whatever, trying to make changes, but feel like you would be more productive just hitting your head against a wall?

Changing a culture is hard. Changing processes is hard. Change is hard in general. Hard does not mean impossible BUT it does mean that you may have to adjust your approach.

You need to play the game, make the connections, and earn respect in order to facilitate change in a way that doesn’t scare people off but rather brings them into your circle of influence. Play the game, learn the game, change the game.

Don’t let your ego and a self-imposed timeline keep you from your end goal. You can be the change and you can make a difference…it just may not be instant. That’s ok. Slow and steady wins the race.
